September 2005. This snail was found in an open freshwater tank used for growing water hyacinth in Vanuatu. An identification was requested.
The snail was identifed asThiara bellicosa (Hinds) – family: Thiaridae, known from Vanuatu – usually in streams. it is native from southeast Asia through Melanesia to Fiji.
