Eudocima fullonia

July 2006. Niue asked about the control of the fruit piercing moth, Eudocima fullonia. This is a problem on Noni in Niue. Noni is made into a juice.

India suggested making bonfires in the orchards. It was asked, by a member from St Helena, whether the bonfires are created late afternoon and dusk, when the moths are most active and seeking egg laying sites, and made as smokey as possible so that the smoke blows across the trees and disrupts the moths’ behaviour? Codling moths on fruit trees is managed way.
