June 2010. Insects were found inside a storeroom at SPC, Fiji. They seem to be feeding on wood. Note, each square is 1 mm by 0.5 mm.
Members said they looked like common psocids, belonging to the Order Psocoptera. They are a general pest of (insect) collections, books, and anything in storage. They commonly eat the surface layers of items, feeding on food wastes and fungi; they do not bore. The larger of the two (photo, upper left) may be Liposcelis sp. They are very common stored pests in tropical areas.
