June 2002. A Colopteran beetle from Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, damaged at a pack house. Parts of the antennae and legs are missing, and the colour faded on freezing! It has three rows of four dark spots. The spots behind the head may be only three. The abdomen is pointed and dark; overall, the beetle is 6 mm long and the colour is light-green. It was found in a shipment of Chinese cabbage from the USA, probably California.
It was identified as Diabrotica undecimpunctata, spotted cucumber beetle, southern corn rootworm. It has a wide host range. it should not be confused with Aulacophora quadrimaculata, which is common in the Pacific, including Micronesia.
