January 2005. In Ethiopia, a ladybird found feeding voraciously on the cypress aphid, Cinara cupressivora, a very destructive insect.
It was suggested that is was Coccinella transversalis, but although it was agreed that it belongs to the subfamily Coccinellinaethis, the identification was disputed. A photo of C transversalis was sent for comparison (bottom, right). Other suggestions were Hippodamia variegata (Adonia variegata) or a Harmonia sp.
