Introduction

When crop pests and diseases occur, farmers want help and advice immediately. Waiting too long for an insect pest to be identified or the cause of visible crop symptoms to be determined can result in considerable loss in crop yield and revenue. Good plant protection practice requires prompt diagnosis of the problem and quick and appropriate action.

The Pacific Pests, Pathogens and Weeds apps have been developed to provide extension staff and lead farmers with relevant information to help them determine which organisms are causing crop problems and what appropriate action should be taken. This includes immediate corrective measures, as well as the steps that need to be taken to prevent such problems occurring in the future.

There are three versions of the free Pacific Pests, Pathogens & Weeds app that are delivered on different platforms. An Internet app that can be accessed directly from this website; and  Android and Apple mobile versions of the app that can be  downloaded from their respective stores.
