September 2012. A request from Sri Lanka to identify a coleopteran larva collected from ground water. Notes with the photos described the larvae as follows: brown colour body with minute setae, 10 mm length, chewing mouth parts with prominent maxilarry palps, long filiform antenne (5-6 mm length), no cerci or filament, 3 pairs of thoracic legs with single tarsi, no claws, and paired eyes.

The photos were sent to the Australian Museum, Sydney, and the reply came: Family Scirtidae (Coleoptera), aquatic larvae, detritus feeding.
