March 2016. A caterpillar and larvae of a beetle from Assiut University, Egypt.
There was no identification of the larvae (left), except to say that it looks like they have appendages like urogomphi. The large caterpillar (right) is probably the final instar of Danaus chrysippus chrysippus chrysippus Linnaeus (Nymphalidea, Danainae), the only member of the subfamily that occurs in Egypt. The food plant looks like Calotropis procera.
