August 2014. A beetle was sent from Himachal Pradesh, India that was trapped on tomatoes.
It was identified by Chris Reid, Pestnet Associate, Australian Museum, Sydney as the strawberry sap beetle, Stelidota geminata, a serious pest of soft fruit and first record for the subcontinent. It comes from North America; accidentally introduced to Europe c.1990.
There are plenty of websites about it and good photos on PaDIL – http://www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-diseases/search.
