December 2009. Photos of the Common gourd (Tondaikai) and tomatoes were sent from Karnataka, India. The gourd had been cultivated continuously on the same land for some time, and now 40-50% of the fruits of the present crop are showing abnormal growth. The tomatoes have dark patches on the skin, and when cut open maggots can be seen. The damage occurs in patches in the field.
The galls on Coccinia grandis (Tondaikai) is due to a cecidomyid fly. No one responded on the tomato problem.
