November 2008. A request from the Falkland Islands for the identification of the beetles found in cabbages from south America, either Chile or Uruguay. They are 2-3 mm
In response, the beetles were thought to be Staphynillids (family Staphylinidae), commonly known as Rover beetles, from the shape of the body and short elytra that fail to cover the abdomen completely. Most members are polyphagus predators on soft bodied insects.
The aphid was, perhaps, the prey, as it was also present on the cabbages. It was identfiied as Brevicoyne brassicae.
