June 2009. A request from French Polynesia for the identification of insects found in bean, Phaseolus vulgaris. There were two suggestions for the bruchid: Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabricius 1775) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) – cowpea seed beetle. Later, the Australian Museum suggested that the bruchid belonged to Bruchini, not Pygiopachymerus. There was no comment on the tinged (right). |
