August 2014. Images of immature bugs from Hagenia trees – African redwood or rosewood – sent for identification from Ethiopia.
It was said to be an immature Hemiptera: Heteroptera (note the presence of developing wing pads). An adult with fully developed wings is needed before further identification is possible.
The images were sent to Gerry Cassis, a bug specialist at University NSW; he said: “these are all mirid bugs …. and it is likely they belong to the subfamily Mirinae and tribe Mirini”.
