Lithurgus scabrosus

September 2005. People using Tree hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus) sticks for construction in Cook Islands find that during the summer the sticks are damaged by the nest-holes of the Black leaf-cutter bee (Lithurgus scabrosus, Megachilidae).

Does anybody know how to stop this bee burrowing into the sticks?
