December 2008. Several citrus trees were found with splitting in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. On eor two trees have died. There are some snow scales on the stem and branches, but it was unlikely that the scale was the cause of the splitting or the death of the trees. It was asked if anyonme knew the cause?
A member suggested that stem splitting has been reported in some grafted hybrids (related, but poorly compatible genera): http://tinyurl.com/6hh4o3. Trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliata), Rangpur lime, and some citrons and lemons all of show stem blotching and bark splitting.
