February 2005. Weevils found in wheat from Australia imported into Vietnam.
The weevil was thought to be an entimine weevil (family Curculionidae, subfamily Entiminae) and possibly belongs to to the Australian genus Prosayleus. However, Prosayleus and similar Australian weevils are not known to be wheat pests, and certainly do not attack wheat grain in a stored form. Their larvae are root feeders and the adults would at most attack wheat seedlings.
