February 2010. A question about the insects found on tobacco in southern Vietnam: are they ???natural enemies????
The insect (left) is a mayfly (order Ephemeroptera); its immature stages are aquatic and the adult does not feed. It has no importance in tobacco pest management.
The second is a squash bug, family Coreidae (order Hemiptera). Coreidae are sap-sucking plant feeders and some are pests. Possibly, Cletus sp. They are quite common in Asia, but nobody seems to have established their economic importance.
