May 2002. A weed found on Kosrae, federated States of Mircronesia. The plant is a vigorous, climbing vine, very invasive and overgrows trees and other plants. It grows in wetland areas. The vines are 5 to 10 m long, flowers are white, with a 5-lobed calyx. Seeds are dark when mature, shaped like coffee beans.
It was identified as Clerodendrum inerme, a native scandent shrub (between a vine and a shrub), common on South Pacific beaches. |
