October 2002. A lizard was found and photgraphed in the Marshall Islands.
It is Chamaeleo (subgenus Trioceros) jacksonii, the three-horned chamaeleon Most chamaeleons are native to Madagascar and Africa south of the Sahara, although one species is found in the southern Mediterranean. There are no native species to the Pacific region, so this is probably an introduction to the Marshall Islands. They feed on active live insects. it is now established in Hawaii, having been introduced as pets.
