March 2016. An identification was required for this beetle from stored cassava in Binh Dinh Province (south central coast) of Vietnam.
From Chris Reid, a Pestnet Associate at the Australian Museum: it is Platycotylus nitidulus (Macleay) (family Tenebrionidae, tribe Palorini). It is very distinctive in Tenebrionidae because of its pronotal shape, long antennae, flat body, prominent eyes. It is probably an Australian species that has entered Southeast Asia.
