Crops Trees, palms & pandanus Trees Tectona grandis, holes in leaf, Fiji

January 2007. This is a 2-month-old Teak (Tectona grandis) seedling in Fiji showing pest damage to the leaf. All seedlings in the plot are similarly damage. No pest has been found despite thorough examination during the day – except several spiders. Any idea what is eating the leaf and how to control it?
It was unresolved; it looks like beetle damage, and there was a suggestion to go out at night and look.
