July 2006. The gall wasp is a new pest of Erythrina in China and information was requested on natural enemies.
Members mentioned that information about Quadrastichus erythrinae is available in the Global Invasive Species Database at: http://www.issg.org/database/species/ecology.asp?si=965&fr=1&sts= with informatin about management at: http://issg.org/database/species/management_info.asp?si=965&fr=1&sts=sss,
and at HEAR:

Also, there is an Erythrina gall wasp e-mail discussion forum at:
http://www.hear.org/hearlists/egw.htm
If information is obtained about any biocontrol efforts (or other important EGW-related information), it should be sent to the list ([email protected]) so it can be shared with other parties who have expressed particular interest in this pest species.
August 2005. The gall wasp was observed in the Philippines for the first time in 2005 infesting E varigata, locally known as dapdap.
November 2006. Q erythrinae is spreading rapidly throughout southeast Asia and the Pacific, causing severe damage and even death of various species of Erythrina (coral) trees. In Hawaii, besides working on the biological control of the wasp, scientists are comparing the DNA of specimens from throughout Asia and the Pacific with those of potential source populations from West, East, and South Africa.
The gall wasp was described in the following paper:
Kim I-K, Delvare G, La Salle J (2004) A new species of Quadrastichus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae): a gall-inducing pest on Erythrina (Fabaceae). Journal of Hymenoptera Research 13: 243-249.
